KnowWho has been in business for 15 years, although it's principals have been in the industry for more than 40 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Federal, state, and local government officials, candidate, and media advocacy contact and biographical data as well as government relations and advocacy tools available on multiple platforms including Salesforce CRM, Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Outlook, stand-alone online directories, hosted and non-hosted web services for advocacy websites. We also sell our data to internal and third-party developers.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Bruce Brownson is the founder of KnowWho. His father was a congressman for Indiana and started the first Congressional Staff Directory in the late 1950s. He worked in the family business and took over for the business when his father passed away.He sold the print directory business to CQ in 1999, and started an online directory business primarily servicing the government relations and nonprofit industries.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We maintain and publish a deeper level of data than most government publishers. We pride ourselves in our meticulous editorial collection methods, and we update our data and push it out to our directory customers daily.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one primary location in the Washington DC metro area.
