How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Owner of BHAMC's professional background: Dr. Lynn Schutt was born in Buffalo, New York. His father was an Air Force pilot, so Lynn, his mother, and his four brothers lived all over the world, including Alaska and Africa. He graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and still attends when he can every game the Buckeyes play. After his internship at South Shore Veterinary Associates in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, he worked for a year in New Haven, Connecticut. He then moved to Northern Virginia, where his parents lived since the early seventies. Dr. Schutt opened Old Town Veterinary Hospital in 1980, and then the Beacon Hill Cat Hospital in 1990. After selling those practices, he opened Belle Haven Animal Medical Centre in 2000. He has two children, Kyle and Danielle, and many pets, including three dogs, five cats and three horses. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Cynthia. They enjoy boating, skiing, biking and pretty much anything else that you can do outdoors.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
About 85%-90% of the veterinary clinics within a 20-30 mile radius of our hospital is corporately owned. We are one of the few family-owned, small animal veterinary hospitals with over 100+ years of combined veterinary experience & care serving all of Northern VA, Old Town Alexandria, and the Washington Metropolitan area. All of our veterinarians each have over 10+ years of veterinary medicine experience. We pride ourselves on providing the best patient care with veterinarians who each have 10+ years of experience practicing veterinary medicine & by providing our clients & patients with comprehensive medicine & the most up-to-date ultra-modern technology offered for patient care.
